Kelton D. Hale

Kelton D. Hale is one of this year’s Cleveland Blues Society scholarship recipients. After picking up the trumpet at age 6, Kelton’s passion for music grew steadily along with his age. He is a multi instrumentalist who played in concert band, orchestra, marching band, show choir band, and jazz band. He received the Exemplary Music Interest Award both his Sophomore and junior years. In his senior year became evident  the Vice President of his school’s marching band, and was awarded the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award, honoring seniors every year with exceptional talent and passion for jazz. Outside of school music groups, he has also started and currently plays in two of his own music groups. The first group, known as The Bonetet, is a Brass band style group with four trombones as the main sound for street performances and parades. The second group he leads would be The Quaranteens, a band with a more indie guitar group feel, which plays in more formal concerts. Kelton will be attending Belmont University, located in Nashville, Tennessee, with a major in Commercial Music Performance
